Georgian designer Demna Gvasalia honoured at CFDA Fashion Awards

Georgian fashion designer Demna Gvasalia has won the International Award at the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Fashion Awards for his work at Balenciaga and Vetements.

Often referred to as “the Oscars of fashion”, the CFDA Fashion Awards honour excellence in fashion design. The awards ceremony is due to take place on 5 June at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York.

Gvasalia is currently the creative director of Balenciaga, and head designer of Vetements. At the end of 2016, he scooped the International Ready-to-Wear Designer Award at the British Fashion Council Awards for his work as creative director at Balenciaga, as well as the Best International Urban Luxury Award for Vetements together with his brother Guram, who serves as CEO.
