Overriding Sequence

Overriding Sequence was taken in the Romanian capital over four year, and was inspired by a melting pot of genres. “I was influenced by many things: mecha, reality hacking, street performances, absurd theatre, boiler rooms, post-humanism, street art, B movies, virtual reality, hypothetical drugs and, of course, classic Japanese and American street photography,” says photographer Mihai Barabancea. Individually, the images capture moments of social turmoil, corruption and crime. Altogether, the photo book is like a journey through nine circles of hell, with interjections of humour, and a memoir of a man dealing with his own demons.
