Sew Long! Fashion in Slovakia 1945 – 1989 at the Slovak National Gallery in Bratislava offers a glimpse into communist-era style — what would you have worn in 1950?

The exhibition, hosted at Esterházy Palace, showcases clothing design and fashion photography, together with fashion and design magazines from throughout the era. Through the exhibits one can trace the changing relationship of the regime to the west, with an increasing openness to the outside world becoming particularly visible in fashion in the 1980s.

Sew Long! Fashion in Slovakia 1945 – 1989 can be viewed at the Slovak National Gallery until 20 August. Find out more here.
