Czech historians develop video game about Nazi occupation

Prague’s Charles University and the Czech Academy of Sciences have working on a video game that offers a first-hand perspective of the Nazi occupation of the territory of Czechoslovakia.

The game, called Attentat 1942, offers a mix of entertainment and education as it follows a fictional storyline that is based on historical research and real interviews. It includes interactive comics, rare footage and interviews with survivors. Users play as a character whose grandfather is arrested by the Gestapo — the goal of the game is to find out why.

The game is set for release this year and is currently featured on Steam Greenlight, where users can vote for its inclusion in the Steam video game store. All revenue from game sales is set to be invested into further research.
