Russian designer Artemy Lebedev presents design concept for Nike Air Max

20 March 2017

Earlier this month, Nike revealed its “RevolutionAirs” — 12 creatives from around the world invited to re-envisage Nike Air Max trainers as part of the brand’s Vote Forward campaign. Among the participants hoping to have their design released is Russian designer Artemy Lebedev, who has just unveiled his design concept.

Taking the form of the Air Max 97 as its base, Lebedev’s sleek design is almost entirely black, save red inserts on the sides, with laces covered by a lace shroud.

According to Nike’s press service, quoted by Afisha, Lebedev was chosen for the project “[a]s a significant figure in the Russian design community, a person with authority in graphic and industrial design”. The founder of the design company Art. Lebedev Studio is joined by a diverse range of creatives in this project, including New York-based DJ Venus X and Mexican contemporary artist Lourdes Villagómez.

Only one of the 12 designs will become reality and hit the shelves — vote here for your favourite. To help you decide, you can find out about the other designs here.
