The Russian military has announced that aspiring soldiers in Russia’s Youth Army will soon be able to relive the Soviet Army’s capture of Nazi Berlin in 1945, thanks to a mini replica of the German Reichstag (parliament) building.

The Youth Army was created in 2015 under Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoygu’s direction to teach basic military skills and provide physical training to children as young as ten.

According to an announcement yesterday by Mr Shoygu, the miniature Reichstag will be constructed at Patriot Park in Kubinka, just west of Moscow. Explaining the rationale behind the decision, Mr Shoygu added that this would allow children “to storm a specific location, not something abstract”.

Patriot Park is an upcoming military-inspired theme park. Other delights set to feature in the park include replicas of Second World War-era Soviet army positions and a forest guerrilla base — fun for all the family!
