Leading online art platform and resource Artsy has named Serbian artist Ivana Bašić among the top 17 emerging artists to watch this year.

The Belgrade-born New York-based artist has become known for her sculptures depicting the human body, engaging with the physical human form as a site of both vulnerability and resilience. Approaching the body as a constructed and ideological object, Bašić elicits visceral responses in her viewers, often leaving them unsettled.

2016 saw Bašić‘s first solo gallery show take place at London’s Annka Kultys, while she also currently has an installation featured in the Whitney Museum of American Art’s group exhibition of film and video Dreamlands, which explores artistic responses to the conventions of cinema.
