Moscow designer J.Kim’s latest collection celebrates Uzbek culture

Moscow-based designer Jenia Kim, founder of J.Kim brand, is not one to shy away from her roots. In the past she’s drawn inspiration from Korea, where her family immigrated from, translating it into modern silhouettes — mid-length pinafore dresses, wrap-around skirts and boyfriend blazers. For her spring/ summer 2017 collection Kim has turned to the heritage of Uzbekistan, where the designer was born and raised.

In this teaser video by young Russian filmmaker Nadia Bedzhanova, Georgian style icon and founder of Moscow-based store INDEXflat store Anka Tsitsishvili shows off the garments’ colourful embellishments in an equally dazzling spin inspired by Uzbek national dance.
