The flight from Moscow to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky in the Far East of Russia takes eight hours.

Then it’s nine hours by car to Kluchy township and another five to get the final destination — the Kluchevskaya Sopka volcano, one of the most famous in Kamchatka.

22-year-old student and filmmaker Ludmila Lepeshinskaya spent two weeks exploring the Kamchatka Peninsula in July 2016.

She spotted seals and rare giant crabs, talked to fishermen on abandoned barges and with a group of scientists watched the volcano erupting. Every day she captured on film on the wild, untameable spirit of this most distant spot of Russia.
