Moscow metro hosts fashion show by Alexander Terekhov

Russian designer Alexander Terekhov presented his new spring-summer collection underground on Tuesday – in the hall of Moscow’s Dostoevskaya metro station.

The collection was inspired by the 1990s and included asymmetrical cocktail dresses, evening dresses with sequins and stones and knitwear with graphic ornamentation. Makeup was doll-like with hair in high buns.

Half of the station was blocked off to the public for the show. Surprised passengers watched and filmed from the other side of the barrier. Olga Kredina, head of business development of Rusmoda, told Grazia that a few difficulties related to the choice of location: “The show was during metro working hours, therefore, finding the right sound took lots of time. Additionally, there are no bathrooms in the Moscow metro and drinking alcohol is prohibited on the territory, so guests had to wait until the afterparty.”

The station’s famous wall panels depicting Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment, The Idiot and Demons were used instead of press walls. The models paraded on the slippery marble floor. The invitations for the event looked like pink one-way metro tickets and were sent in glossy silver envelopes.
