Russian politician Oksana Pushkina has come up with a novel team-building exercise for the women of the Russian parliament — a reality TV show.

The head of the State Duma Committee on Family Affairs, Women, and Children suggested that the 70 women deputies of the Duma team up to launch the show, which she believes could help their working relationships.

“I want to be girlfriends, and I also want to gather together the women from all the different [party] factions. So I’m offering up this suggestion. And maybe that’s what we could call it: ‘Girlfriends’,” Ms Pushkina said at the inaugural meeting of her committee. Committee member Tamara Pletneva was quick to second the proposal, and a resolution was made to discuss the project further.

Ms Pushkina is no stranger to the spotlight — she is a well known TV personality in Russia, having hosted the celebrity show Female View for over a decade. Formerly children’s rights commissioner for the Moscow region, she was elected to the Duma last month as a member of the ruling United Russia party.
