Going the distance: ride along with Jacek Fota on Poland’s longest tram line

3 October 2016

Jacek Fota’s photography builds a sense of place in careful, considered, details.

For PKiN, Fota dissected and documented the interiors of the highest building in Poland, the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw.

For his latest series Number 46, the Polish photographer took his camera aboard the longest tram line in Poland, which first opened in 1922 in Łódź, and also happens to be the second longest in Europe. Making 46 stops over a distance of 29.51 kilometres, Fota captures, this time spontaneously, moments from the journey along with the indistinct snowy landscapes out of the tram windows.
