The Srebrenica Web Museum of Genocide is now “open” for visitors, allowing people around the world to pay a visit to the Potočari Memorial Centre, which stands at the site of the 1995 massacre.

An online virtual tour of the Memorial Centre was first proposed last year at the Al Jazeera web summit, with the Web Museum featuring photos, videos, television reports, maps and stories from the broadcaster. It is anticipated that Web Museum will remain a living project and be regularly updated with new content.

The Potočari Memorial Centre and new Web Museum commemorate the victims of the Srebrenica massacre, the killing of more than 7,000 Bosniaks by Bosnian Serb forces in July 1995, whose remains were found in mass graves.
