Romanian director Cristian Mungiu invited to join Academy

Romanian filmmaker Cristian Mungiu has been invited to join the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which decides the winners of the Oscars.
In May this year, Mungiu won the award for Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival for Graduation (Bacalaureat), sharing the honour with French director Olivier Assayas.
The Academy has this year invited 683 potential members, its largest and most diverse class ever.
