26 March 2013

The winning design for the new Polytechnic Museum of science and technology in Moscow has been unveiled complete with exhibition spaces and a 1,500-seat cinema. The copper clad building will open in 2017 at a cost of $180m.

The building was jointly designed by the acclaimed Italian architectural practice Massimiliano Fuksas Architetto and the Moscow-based firm Russian SPEECH. The design was commissioned by the museum and Moscow State University. The new building will be located near the university in Sparrow Hills to the south of the capital. It will supplement the existing museum building in Lubyanka in central Moscow which opened in 1872 but is currently closed for restoration.
