Graffiti featuring war film heroes is set to appear on buildings in Moscow in celebration of Victory Day.

The art works have been commissioned by the Russian Military-Historical Society and will be completed by local street art and graffiti company Novatek Art.

The first painting, which features the main character from the new Russian film Hero (2016, dir. Yuri Vasilev) has already appeared on the facade of the building next to the Krasnye Vorota metro station, which belongs to the Federal Protective Service. Three further pieces of graffiti are expected to pay homage to the heroes of the Soviet war films Officers (1971, dir. Vladimir Rogovoy), Battle for Moscow (1985, dir. Yuri Ozerov) and The Story of a Real Man (1948, dir. Aleksandr Stoller).
