British-Russian co-production receives film distribution in Russia

British-Russian co-production Saint Petersburg has received distribution in Russia, a rare feat for an independent film, orignially filmed in English. Exponenta Film will distribute the film, a debut from director Andrey Khvostov. The film explores the fraught and complex relationships of protagonist Elliot, who is in a love triangle with his half-brother Fyodor and Fyodor’s girlfriend Anya. Exponenta Film described Saint Petersburg as “a rare film for Russia. It is multi-national production; it is bright and fresh and aimed at young audiences”. The film has received critical acclaim from the Vyborg and St Petersburg international film festivals.
