The Saatchi Gallery in London has announced a long-term collaboration with the Tsukanov Family Foundation with the aim of exhibiting more art from Russia and the former Soviet Union in the UK. The tie-up follows the success of Breaking the Ice: Moscow Art 1960s-80, an exhibition on Russian post-war art at the London gallery that ran until March this year. The exhibition featured works by world-renowned artists such as Ilya Kabokov and Leonid Sokov.

Nigel Hurst, chief executive officer of the Saatchi Gallery, said: “This collaborative partnership provides a wonderful opportunity to bring art from a culturally rich, but relatively unknown, part of the world to a new audience.”

Igor Tsukanov, the co-founder of the Tsukanov Foundation, a London-based charity that supports art and music in both Russia and the UK, said: “Our first show was held in London this year and revealed a strong public interest in post-war and contemporary art originating in the former Soviet Union region. We look forward to using the gallery’s vast experience to further expand on this through a series of shows over the course of the next five years.”
