Russian Interiors

Italian photojournalist Andy Rocchelli worked throughout eastern Europe and Central Asia recording human rights abuses before his tragic death in 2014 in the Ukrainian city of Sloviansk, where he was covering the civil war. Russian Interiors, published posthumously, resulted from photos Rocchelli took while freelancing in Russia, when to cover his expenses he offered low-cost portraits to single women for their online dating profiles. The photos are vivid without being at all stylised, showing Rochelli’s eye for composition and colour that might otherwise be missed in his documentary works.
