Reka Bucsi

Reka Bucsi laces together constantly inventive and wittily absurd scenes with surprising associations in Symphony No. 42, drawing surreal parallels between humans and animals in a universe of unpredictable nature and mystical symbols. The Oscar-shortlisted short, which was her graduation film from MoMe in Budapest, has been a huge festival success and has flagged the Hungarian animator as a bright new talent to watch. Bucsi has described the experimental and intuitive way she brought the film to life as “more composing than directing”. She’s been developing her new short Love in an artist residency at the Open Workshop in Denmark.
