The Mixtape 22: Noizar

This month’s mixtape comes from Nazar Prokopiv aka Noizar, a Kiev-based DJ and founder of Wicked Bass Records. Despite being a quite small independent venture, Wicked Bass Records actively releases Ukrainian and international producers (check out a video from one of them, Manuel Gonzales, here) and has created a bit of a buzz in independent electronic music circles worldwide. For The Calvert Journal mixtape, Nazar explores a different side of his exquisite music taste: unlike his DJ sets which are usually based on heavy techno, it’s light and airy and perfect for the warm evenings of early summer. More than half of the tracks featured here are by Ukrainian and Russian producers.
