The Mixtape 21: Maiden Obey

Ahead of their London and Paris debut performance later this month, the Moscow-based DJ duo Maiden Obey have compiled a mixtape devoted to Russian electronic music. Young and furious, Dasha Utchka and Anastasia Pilepchuk started their DJ careers in 2013, when they first came up with the name. Thanks to their powerful style and wild DJ sets, the girls quickly became favourites on the Moscow scene, before setting off to tour Russia. “Russian regions are very different, a lot depends on the club, the promoter and the audience. Sometimes it feels like there’s no one in the city who listens to our music. But mostly we get a warm welcome, and trips are pure enjoyment.” Apart from DJing the girls are also founders of a popular erotic online magazine Areola. This mixtape is made mostly from Russian music producers, except for one Ukrainian and one Belorussian track. “Russian electronic music is developing really quickly and is in quite a good place at the moment. You can judge for yourself from our mix.”
